Introduction to Dimming Glass
Dimming glass, also known as Smart Glass or Switchable Glass, is a revolutionary product with multiple remarkable features.
Basic Features
When powered on, it offers excellent light transmittance, presenting a clear and transparent appearance. In contrast, when the power is off, it becomes opaque, effectively safeguarding privacy. It can even replace a projection screen in its opaque state, providing a clearer image
Main Advantages
- Fast Switching: It can change from opaque to transparent or vice – versa in about 60 milliseconds 1.
- High Safety: It won’t break into scattered pieces upon impact or vibration, maintaining its original state 1.
- Energy – Saving: Thanks to the double – layer laminated glass and film, it significantly reduces the heat transfer coefficient, filters over 98% of harmful light, and blocks noise 1.
- Diverse Control Methods: It can be controlled manually, remotely, by light, sound, infrared, or through a long – distance network 1.
- Large Size and High Transparency: It has a large width and can reach a light transmittance of 92% and an opacity of 1.8% 1.
Working Principle
When the power is off, the polymer liquid crystal material in the middle of the glass is randomly arranged, preventing light from passing through and making the glass appear milky and opaque. When powered on, the liquid crystal material arranges orderly under the electric field, allowing light to pass through and making the glass transparent 1.
Applications
It has a wide range of applications, covering administrative offices, public services, commercial entertainment, home life, advertising media, imaging, and public safety fields
